It founder Guillaume 1<sup>st<\/sup>of Aquitaine, Comte d\u2019Auvergne, was then able to completely renew monastic life. Meanwhile, the building became a top-notched intellectual centre. During Middle Age, the Order of Cluny became the greatest spiritual capital of Europe. Nowadays, prestigious schools are settled within the abbey.<\/p>\n<p>Around Cluny, villages hold to this rich history and support the region\u2019s religious heritage in a bucolic setting and nice landscapes. This Roman heritage is notably visible inside the Chapel of Moines in Berz\u00e9 la Ville, where frescoes done by monks back in the twelfth<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century shows a major breakthrough in Christian arts. Older than the abbey stands Mazille\u2019s monks deanery, a gigantic building built in 893 and then given to the Benedictines.<\/p>\n<p>Between Tournus and Cluny can be found the greatest amount of Roman churches in France. You can discover this rich historical background by car, starting at Cluny and L\u2019Hostellerie d\u2019H\u00e9lo\u00efse located right next to the greatest points of interest of this French department. Hikers, bike, roller and horse riders can also wander on the Green Path which starting point is right in front of the hotel. V\u00e9ritable ch\u00e2teau fort qui domine la vall\u00e9e de la Grosne, ses ruines, appartenant \u00e0 un propri\u00e9taire priv\u00e9,\u00a0restent ouvertes au public. Durant trois cents ans, ce ch\u00e2teau appartenait \u00e0 la famille Gros, des seigneurs particuli\u00e8rement enclins aux batailles et aux pillages. En 1259, l\u2019h\u00e9ritier de la famille, cribl\u00e9 des dettes de son p\u00e8re, vend ses seigneuries au duc Hugues IV de Bourgogne. Le ch\u00e2teau de Brancion devient le logis permanent du duc durant deux cent dix-huit ans.<\/p>\n<p>Castle of Brancion offers many attractive points for a business events.
